  • ETL is a  certification body  for conducting procedures of conformity assessment with Directive 98/37/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 June 1998 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to machinery.

As a certification body, ETL participates, to a specified extent, in the process of affixing CE marking to the machinery which complies with principal requirements of Directive 98/37/EC.
Manufacturers, designers and other persons interested in certification of machinery or safety components shall contact us. We will provide any information and advice, as well as indicate procedures obligatory at affixing CE marking.

The Directive provides for the compliance with the safety requirements and requires the application of the CE marking on the basis of a declaration of conformity to be prepared by the manufacturer. Specific types of machinery and safety components, as listed in Annex IV to the Directive, require the intervention of a notified body to perform the relevant EC type examination.
