Importance of CE

  • For companies that have invested time, resources and money to improve the safety and quality of their products, certification is a vital step towards giving them the right visibility vis-à-vis the market and their customers. Safety and quality marks are in fact the visible guarantee that a product has been manufactured to conform to safety requirements, and that it has been tested by an independent body which carries out all tests on the product required by reference standards and also monitors production on a regular and constant basis. Certification has other benefits too. For manufacturers, certification is an important protection tool as concerns liability for damages due to faulty products. In fact, the Presidential Decree no. 224 of 24.05.1988 states that manufacturers are held liable for the consequences of faulty products, unless they can prove that the fault was coincidental; this proof derives from the fact that all possible measures have to been taken to control production of the product both internally, and externally though the monitoring of a certification body.
