CE Directives

  • The EU policy regarding the free circulation of goods has brought to the issue of a number of Directives, in order to overcome the legal obstacles relevant to the conformity with the safety principles. These Directives establish the procedures for the assessment of the safety aspects of industrial products, and provide for the application of the CE marking that attests the conformity to the essential requirements.

    Products are divided into the following categories, according to their level of risk:

    • products for which the conformity assessment can be performed by the manufacturer;
    • products for which the manufacturer is obliged to request the conformity assessment to a State-authorized body that has been notified to the authorities of the other EU states.

    ETL is qualified to operate in both situations by providing assistance in the identification of the applicable Directives and of the most suitable procedures to be followed for satisfying the legal requirements, and performing conformity tests and verifications for the obtaining of the conformity certificates necessary for the affixing of the CE marking.
